Paper accepted to FinIR ’25 and tutorial session confirmed at the premier IR venue

We're excited to announce that LinqAlpha will be presenting two major contributions at SIGIR 2025, the leading international conference on information retrieval, held this year in Padova, Italy.

Structuring the Unstructured: A Multi-agent System for Financial Information Extraction

Our research paper, “Structuring the Unstructured: A Multi-agent System for Extracting and Querying Financial KPIs and Guidance,” was accepted to FinIR ’25, the 2nd Workshop on Financial Information Retrieval in the Era of Generative AI, co-located with SIGIR.

The paper introduces a multi-agent architecture purpose-built for institutional workflows—capable of extracting forward-looking KPIs and qualitative guidance from SEC filings, earnings calls, and other unstructured disclosures.

Key components of the system include:

  • An extraction agent trained to identify spans of KPI-relevant text across financial documents

  • A text-to-SQL agent that transforms qualitative guidance into structured, queryable form

  • An orchestration layer to support downstream analytics and reasoning agents

This system allows investment analysts to query and reason over disclosures directly—eliminating the need for manual parsing, templating, or pre-labeled datasets.

The research was co-authored by:

  • Prof. Alejandro Lopez-Lira (University of Florida)

  • Prof. Yongjae Lee (KAIST)

  • And LinqAlpha engineers: Jihoon, Minjae, Juneha, Minsoo, Chaewoon, Jaeseon, Suyeol, and Jin

Bridging Research and Practice: SIGIR Tutorial Session

In addition to the FinIR workshop, Jacob Choi, CEO of LinqAlpha, will co-present a tutorial at SIGIR 2025 titled:
“Information Retrieval in Finance: Industry and Academic Perspectives on Innovation”

This tutorial will explore:

  • Real-world deployment of multi-agent IR systems in finance

  • RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) systems tailored to institutional research

  • Architecture decisions and tradeoffs in live production environments

Jacob will present alongside Prof. Lopez-Lira, drawing on joint research and field experience from live deployments across hedge funds, asset managers, and banks.

Event Details

  • FinIR Workshop presentation: July 17, 2025

  • SIGIR Tutorial Session: July 17, 2025

  • Location: University of Padova, Padova, Italy

We’re excited to share how our multi-agent research platform is enabling more transparent, queryable access to the language of markets—and look forward to engaging with the SIGIR and FinIR communities this July.
